New DT Forks

New DT Forks
DT's carbon forks have undergone a makeover that's more than skin deep. They've "rooted" the carbon to create consistent strands that connect the steerer, crown, and legs. They look trippy in that unidirectional way, too. Bonus.

Maxxis Ikon Tires

Maxxis Ikon Tires
Remember when our selection of 29er tires consisted of a few molds from WTB and IRC? Now, it's officially tough to keep track of all the models on the market. One new fast-looking option is this 2.2-inch Maxxis Ikon.

SRAM 2x10 X.0 Colors

SRAM 2x10 X.0 Colors
Of all of SRAM's new X.0 2x10 color combinations, the gray might be my favorite. Subtle and classy, the black and gray combination looks good with anything.

The Good Stuff
Ride like Steve Peat and maybe your rear derailleur would have a top secret SRAM Blackbox logo on it, too.

New Syncros Components

New Syncros Components
While sister company Ritchey holds the course with a variety of carbon road and XC components, Syncros is showing a sudden interest in 29ers, with products like this 29er fork (also offered in a 26" wheel version). And why not? Other than a few inroads into DH components, things have been pretty quiet at Syncros for the past few years. These new components could change that. Beautiful bike.

Being away from Whistler for the Winter Games has been a bit sad, but I have had a few games of my own going on.

Goggle testing in the mountains outside of Nelson, BC with the adidas eyewear team. Great trip and great skiing. Thanks to all the cool people that were there.

Training riding and testing in Laguna Beach, CA with Lopes, Hans and a bunch of my bros from home. Mostly on my Rotwild X1 with a 2011 Marzocchi 55 air forks and DT Swiss EXC 1550 wheels. These all mountain bikes can do almost anything.

I even got some time in at the Olympics in Vancouver. What a cool vibe.

Stay tuned for more news from the hills.

Vice World Champion in Canada!

Last weekend was the World Cup in Mont-Saint-Anne in Canada after a few weeks altitude in the USA to the absolute season highlight. The traditional race on the Canadian East Coast was characterised by extreme weather conditions and a technically extremely heavy range. High humidity and temperatures of up to 34 degrees that extremely austrockneten route ruled until immediately before the race. Suddenly torrential rain set up the night before the race, which completely transformed the previously staubtrockene slopes and almost unfahrbar made technically particularly serious passages about large boulders.

Immediately after the start I could queue me in the top flight of first six racers. After attacks by Catherine Pendrel was looking for an early decision before their home crowd, the top was reduced to four women went away with minimal intervals in the final after 90 minutes. After himself could sell something Maja Wlosczowska, silver and bronze in the last serious downhill through an extremely breacking Steinfeld decided. Willow stumbled, I had the bike and only Catherine could the passage on the bike. Thus the medals was not decided but still. We almost the same situation we had at the Olympic Games 2008. I mobilized all reserves and could overtake Catherine still me get silver. After the Championships in 2007 and 2009 I now five times in a row won a medal at the World Championships in the Cross-Country.So my focus on the World Cup have fully paid.

Many love

Cipollini Bikes

Cipollini Bikes
Though not officially showing at Interbike, we spotted a Cipollini bike in another booth. With the recent announcement of Tony Cruz's new line of bikes, maybe something half-decent has come from Rock Racing after all: a new crop of small companies producing competition framesets.

This belt-driven Sycip with elevated chainstays had to be one of the best looking bikes at the show. This was a personal favorite.

Salsa Titanium

Salsa Titanium
We learned some time ago that Salsa would be launching titanium versions of some of their best frames. Fabricated by Lynskey in Tennessee, the La Cruz Ti had my attention from the first prototype I'd seen. This might be because I still love titanium as the ultimate, nearly indestructible, bicycle frame material, and because I've ridden my steel La Cruz more than all my other bikes combined this year. It's a daily driver that's also weathered everything from rock gardens and long road rides. The same frame in titanium would be pretty special.
